GENERAL ISSUES RELATED TO RELIABILITY AND SAFETY OF THE POWER INDUSTRY

6-11 439
Abstract
The article deals with issues of application efficiency of oil, air and elegas switches at substations of different stress classes during reconstruction and new construction.
12-17 484
Abstract
The article deals with definitions of the energy safety concept on global, regional and national levels, in regulatory acts of different countries and international organizations. It presents certain semantic aspects of energy safety definitions from the standpoints of economics, ecology and sustainable development of the modern society.

STAFF TRAINING

18-28 452
Abstract
The second part of the article deals with issues of organizational culture and its impact on ensuring the safety of electrical energy facilities. It shows a classification of human errors based on the principle of intentionality of actions. The article deals with problems of the modern personnel training system from the standpoint of inadequate training and purpose conflicts. It defines the concept of efficient safety culture as information awareness culture.

ECONOMIC PROBLEMS IN THE ENERGY SECTOR

35-40 438
Abstract
A software package has been developed for functional control of a generation company according to the principles of enhancing energy efficiency. The article deals with issues of optimum work load of a generation company in terms of electrical power. For that purpose, a methodology is proposed for assessment of optimum modes of power stations within such a company based on the principle of equality of maximum income and maximum expenses. The example of Novosibirsk CHPP is used to present the key factors that influence the optimum mode of operation of a power plant (composition of equipment in use, prime cost of generated electricity and heat as well as energy related parameters of the equipment. A methodology is developed for optimization of the CHPP in terms of electricity and heat, and a new approach is proposed for splitting fuel consumption between types of generated energy).
29-34 423
Abstract
The article analyzes electrical energy businesses in the RF and in the USA. It describes the factors influencing the value of companies in the electrical energy sector as well as results of share issues and market capitalization of the sector. Special emphasis is laid on development of investment attractiveness of the major public companies in the energy sector of the USA and the RF. Certain solutions for the investment problem and a system for classification of company activities to increase capitalization are presented.

ENGINEERING, RESEARCH AND CALCULATIONS

41-44 430
Abstract
The article presents modern trends in the creation of coatings intended for friction units of power engineering equipment. It describes compositions of some prospective coatings with low friction ratio. The article presents results of various tribological tests achieved by authors of anti-friction coatings.
45-47 421
Abstract
Currently, Russia is facing a very difficult situation. On the one hand, energy demand keeps growing; on the other hand, this growth causes further deterioration of the ecology. One of the directions of heat and power generation is geothermal power supply from deep drill holes. The advantage of geothermal energy is the fact that it can be used everywhere. The total geothermal energy coming from the interior to the surface of the Earth is estimated at 32,000 GW. In order to utilize geo- and petrothermal heat of the Earth, it would be expedient to build ecologically pristine two-circuit GeoTPP with one drill hole. For the purposes of assessing the real efficiency of a GeoTPP, one should take into consideration internal energy losses.
48-50 436
Abstract
The article present results of experimental studies aimed at reducing vibrations in pipelines with two-phase flows in case of installing swirlers with involute surface grooves. Correlations are found between hydraulic resistance coefficients and pipeline vibration levels depending on gas content and flow spinning parameters.
51-54 463
Abstract
The article considers new layouts of the SGU, in which some stages of air compressor are actuated by steam turbines, instead of gas turbines. It shows that when air compression is reduced in the compressor, efficiency and power of the SGU grow, and that, subject to a certain level of air compression, the SGU can operate with a completely independent steam turbine and compressor module.
55-59 462
Abstract
The article scrutinizes possible mathematical modeling of transfer processes in heat transferring elements of cold supply systems, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as refrigeration chambers. Factors are established that primarily influence thermohydraulic parameters of system elements with intensified heat exchange surfaces.

OPERATING EXPERIENCE

60-63 378
Abstract
The article deals with terminology related to operation modes of TPP turbines with low volumetric flow rate of working steam.
64-69 426
Abstract
A methodology is proposed for assessment of stresses in half-coupling bolts during rotor assembly diagnostics based on measurements of momentary spatial position of the rotor using the whole system of shaft shift sensors. The methodology is updated for calculation of rotor flanged joints to determine flange flexibility values, and some calculation results are presented for flexibility of flanged joint between high and medium pressure hoses in the 300 MW turbine unit.

DEFENSE OF DISSERTATIONS

70-72 399
Abstract
The article considers a functional design of one unit of an instrument for comprehensive data protection in technical communication channels developed for coupling with the control system of smart buildings. The developed module is described; its selection for the final instrument is explained; certain operation details are provided. A functional diagram and a circuit diagram for the unit are presented.
